BLOGGERS POLL: Talk About The Passion
The long-awaited or long-dreaded delivery of the Democratic health care reform package this week has hardly soothed either party's passions. But who will still be feeling it in November?
In NationalJournal.com's weekly Bloggers Poll, 58.8 percent of left-leaners say the Democratic base will be more energized at midterm time, but virtually all of the right-leaners -- 94.4 percent -- give the edge to the Republicans.
"Rank-and-file Democrats had to be arm-twisted into this by leadership. Republicans fought this all along and now have a rallying cry for the midterms," says Rob Port. James Joyner adds that "Republicans are angry over ObamaCare, the stimulus and the economy. Democrats are feeling too little hope and seeing too little change." But on the left, Cheryl Contee notes that "Democrats are on a power high, having successfully united to accomplish a goal that took 100 years to achieve." And Greg Dworkin sees a turnaround in intensity: "I think Dem indifference has bottomed out."
The bloggers were also asked to assess the Obama administration's recent dealings with Israel. On the left, a 52.9 percent majority said President Obama's tack was about right, while the other 47.1 percent said the White House is being too lenient. Among right-leaners, though, 70.6 percent said Obama was being too tough, with only 23.5 percent saying his strategy was about right.
On the left, Sean-Paul Kelley said the White House has been "far too lenient," adding, "If Avigdor Lieberman really wants to move away from U.S. dependence, Obama should oblige the Israelis by lowering our foreign aid to them." Taylor Marsh, who voted "about right," said the administration was "bold and correct" to push back on new settlements. "It all depends on how well [Benjamin] Netanyahu can balance domestic politics, which must be done without further insulting their best friend, a nation working diligently to get serious sanctions imposed on Iran."
More than one blogger on the right sees Obama as "getting tough with friends and appeasing enemies," as Martin Solomon put it. David Gerstman adds that "given Gen. Petraeus' testimony that Iran is aiding Al Qaeda, the administration focus on distancing itself from Israel and endearing itself to Iran is even more bizarre."

omg a number of the comments a lot of people create are such stoner remarks, now and again i question whether they honestly examine the material pieces and reports before posting or if perhaps they basically gloss over the blog titles and submit first thing comes up. anyhow, it is satisfying to go through smart commentary now and then compared to the identical, obsolete post vomit which i usually observe on the net
